VISTA service pack 1 tawarkan bios baru. Setelah 20 tahun, "BIOS" nantinya bakal disebut "UEFI". Mulai SP1, penerus BIOS ini akan didukung oleh Vista 64 bit. UEFI pertama akan diintegrasikan oleh MSI dalam mainboard mereka MSI P35 Neo3.MSI menciptakan sistem BIOS terbaru ini pada produk-produk motherboardnya yang bertujuan untuk menggantikan tampilan BIOS yang sekarang digunakan oleh seluruh PC. UEFI BIOS merupakan produk terbaru MSI dimana dapat terdapat tambahan fitur yang mampu mendukung hingga pengaturan grafik, bahasa dan mouse.
BIOS from MSI P35 NEO3 :
- The mainboard BIOS provides "Plug & Play" BIOS which detects the peripheral devices and expansion cards of the board automatically.
- The mainboard provides a Desktop Management Interface(DMI) function which records your mainboard specifications.
UEFI BIOS bukan hanya sekedar BIOS, tapi juga mendukung LAN dan pre-OS, seperti aplikasi media player, live update, games, instant messenger dan browser.
Adapun beberapa spesifikasi EFI BIOS antara lain:
- Supports graphical menus and features
- Supports mouse-controlled interface
- Supports pre-OS applications, file oriented (ex: System recovery, games, media player, Internet browser, etc.)
- Supports LAN activating environment
- Supports multi-language
- UEFI support for x64 versions of Windows Vista are included in a Service Pack 1
